False

Evidence

Appearing

Real

Do you experience feelings of fear?  I have also and the experience is not fun.  It is down right distressing and provokes anxiety.

I have learned in recent years that much of what I worry about in regards to  the future is stuff, baggage, experiences, from the past.  Past experiences have been a resource for my ego to project onto a future situation.

fear

The marvelous thing about this, is that there is absolutely no evidence supporting anything from the past occurring again in the future. NONE!  Not one shred of evidence.  However it happened once and golly we watch out for it happening again and we worry about it especially when circumstances are similar.

I have learned how to respond to my own fearful situations.  I take a breath now; I ask myself, what do I need to know about this situation?   I listen to the answer, usually a single concept or word like “trust” or “love her”.    I also tell myself that this situation is from the past; it is not happening now.  It is not real.   And I breath.

When we experience fear, we often pant or only shallowly breath.  It is difficult to think clearly when you are not getting enough oxygen.   So remember to breath,  and remember that the fear you are experiencing is false evidence appearing real.  It can not harm you.  You are getting upset for false reasons—may as well let it go and spend your energy in gratitude that you are safe.   It is from that place that you can look more objectively at options available to you.
